Vijayadashami is the festival comes in Ashwayuja masam, It is one of the famous hindu festival which is celebrating in most of the India especially north, south, East and west sides of india, In kolkata Kali maa, Mysore Chamundi, Vijayawada Durgamaa, Kolhapur maa lakshmi like all the places in different states celebrates it very excellently.
Generally This festival is having ten days, from first day to nine days people worships durga maa in different roopa i.e called as incarnations, and called as Devi Navaratri,
During Mahishasura samhara Devi maa supported her devotees as annapurna, kushmanda, skandhamata, brahmacharini, saraswati, mahishasura mardhini, etc for nine days, in the tenth day Devi was worshipped as Durga maa.. and this day is called as Vijayadashami.
Vijayadashami is the day of victory, in this day Lord Rama defeat Ravana, Pandavaa's ajnata parva is completed, Mahishasura samhara is happened during this Day....
Ravana has ten heads and call as Dushakantha.. during the fight between Rama and Ravana.. Ravana is defeated by Rama.. this is called in Hindi as "Dus hara" , so this day is called as dussehra in most of the India.
